Thinking of the audience....

Today I have been thinking of what age our audience would be and I would say 15-18 years. I have come up with this as our film is about hate crime that is about homophobia in a school so I think that my age group would understand it more. I think the horror would come from the fact that stuff like does happen in schools and of course we would make it gruesome and add twists in there and have a brilliant cliff hanger.

Text from Se7en......

Seeing how much I now love the film Se7en (souly based on it's title sequence I do find it quite scary) I was well glad when I found this on Google.

It is the text they have used for the titles I absolutely love it, it is so creepy and I love the way in some parts it looks religious (if that makes sense) it is like someone is writing it and, like when at school you were made to write lines, that is what the text reminds me of; like someone writing down the seven deadly sins.

The Wait.....

I am really gutted I have been really ill so I wasn't able to go in school today and upload my title sequence to my blog. I am really nervous about what Nina Alan and Leanne are going to think of my film but I know that it will help me in the long run but i don't want them to be too brutal.
I know I could of worked harder on this project than what I have and it will probably show in my grade but I have really enjoyed doing this project I have learned alot. I had never used imovie before this as in year 11 I used to do the written work along with another one in my group and the others used to handle the making of the film so it was like entering another world when it came to it. Gerry really helped me with it and taught me alot.

Me on Kyle Cooper!

Kyle Cooper said that if a title sequence is done greatly then it can make the main titles the first initial scene of the film and I really agree with that comment. I am not saying that our title sequence is great and it's perfect but i do believe that we have done so that it has turned into the first initial scene of the film; it is the first death and it sets the mood for the rest of the film and engages the focus of the audience.
Also when he said in the documentary about it being like choreography I can relate to that because there are parts in it where Jack is walking and we had to makes sure that it is in time with the next clip of him walking and it is also about keeping the continuity so that it makes sense and runs smoothly.
He has really helped me with this project and has became my true inspiration for this project as well.

Documentary on Kyle Cooper and his Business Imaginary Forces!

I found a documentary on kyle Cooper and his business Imaginary Forces and I found that it was very knowledgeable.

As I have already said Kyle cooper is compared to Saul Bass as he has made a mark in the title sequence industry. Kyle wanted to take main titles where music videos were going, it was hard but it was a film resolution. "The way to get out of the 'in pigeon hold' is by remembering it's all about conceptional design, it's about coming up with an idea and it can be for any market be on any platform as long as it is a really good idea." "It is kind if like choreography, making sure it all fits in and runs smoothly and is watchable. The also said that every client and project has a unique creative solution to it; which just shows how much works goes in to title sequences and that you never get bored doing them.
Sometimes they are are sent scripts of the movie or rough cuts of it which can sometimes be four hours long and then its made into a two hour movie but sometimes the director has and idea or a sketch which means then they have to work very collaboratively with the director.

Mission Impossible!

This film to me is a legend I love it. The film is action packed from the start, I think what Kyle Cooper said about great title sequences becoming the first scene of the film is true in this case it doesn't let the film down at all, it is full of action as well and gets the audience hooked and giving them a reason to stay to watch it.

Quotes from an interview with Kyle Cooper!

Q: "What makes a good title sequence?"

A: "It makes you thrilled to be in this theatre at this moment, getting ready to see this movie. It makes you glad that you are nowhere else in the world except where you are, getting ready to see something amazing."

Q: "Some films almost totally neglect their titles. Why do you think they are so important?"

A: "It depends on the movie. They can make no difference whatsoever or they can make the film better. Some films are good enough without them. Some films need a first scene and the best titles become the first scene of the movie."

Q: "At what stage of a film do the titles start to be put together?"

A: "The majority of the work we do on titles comes at the post-production phase of the film. Sometimes the creative process will begin before this point, but the onset of our production is usually in its final stages of the movie."

The Relief!

Nina watched the title sequence today and she really liked it, and I can honestly say I have never felt so relieved in my life. She had some constructive criticism and when I changed what she said you can really notice the difference, it made it a whole lot better. It is around a minute and half long so we were nearly at the maximum. Gerry really helped me alot with the editing as it was my first time using imovie properly and now I feel like a pro because he was such a good teacher.

AAAAAGGGGGGGHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!

It will not upload and it is driving me mad. I have finished editing (by myself....again) and it looks really good but it will not go on to a memory stick so it means that i can not up load it on to here but i am going in Monday so maybe then I can do it because I will have alot longer on it which will help me. I cant believe it is half term and I am going to go in school but if it means that it gets my film on my blog then so be it. I just really hope that it uploads because if it doesn't then I do not know what I am going to do.

Research into Kyle Cooper!

Where I thought the title sequence to Se7en was so inspirational I decided to look into who made it. Kyle Cooper. Kyle Cooper is a designer of motion picture title sequences. His work includes the opening title sequences of Se7en, Spider-Man 1&2, Brave heart, The Mummy, flubber, Dawn of the Dead. He also helped with the video games Metal Gear Solid:2 Sons of Liberty and Metal Gear Solid:3 Snake Eater. His work in the world of title sequences has often been compared to my other legend Saul Bass of whom replaced his role as title designer in Martin Scorsese's film "GoodFellas". He has also directed a film New Port South which came out in 2001.

More Editing!

We have nearly finished editing but im not going to say that it will only take a little while because something will happen and it will end up taking us forever to do it. I have booked out Mac 1 for three hours today so hopefully we can get it done today but if we dont there is always after school. I can't believe today is the deadline it has come so quick, it only seems like we started it a couple weeks ago.

The Realisation!

We realised to day that w didn't even have a name for our film, we had done all the filming and the majority of the editing and we haven't even got a name for it it really shocked me. It is because we have been focused on getting it all done that we totally forgot about a name for it. So today we come up with the name "Hate". I know that it's simple but then I do think it's quite effective as it is short and sweet. I have been trying to think of a tag line for it and I haven't been able to come up with anything yet which is really bugging me. I want to play with the word hate or play with the fact it's a feeling but i can't think my mind has gone blank. I really don't want anything generic or so predictable that it makes it tacky so i really am being cautious with this as it could ruin the film and give it the wrong picture.

Memorable Title Sequences!

I also really liked the title sequence to the ring. the text on looks like its been written by a child but also looks scary as it is in a silver colour and they have also used the effect of the flashing so it gives it more of a horror feeling to it. The music sounds like its from a little girls jewellery box but which makes it more creepy because it is a familiar sound that you would not necessarily find scary. I love the flashing effect as it makes the text jump out at you and gets you in the mood for the film. the title sequence really does set the film and is a perfect opening to it. the death at the beginning also tells you the story and gives you some background information so you are not confused or in the dark about anything but then it doesn't give too much away to spoil it for the audience.

The Change!

We have decided to change the genre of the film to horror because it looks more like that then what it does a crime drama. We found it really hard looking for crime drama films as there aren't really any. It will be alot easier for us to just do a horror and really even when we started it looked more like a horror. I think we will be more successful if we say the genre will be horror; but that does not mean that when we were researching crime dramas that it was a waste because it heped us alot and helped us when we were filming the murder scene as we knew how the body had to fall and how it would look; although we didnt film the falling of the body but I have the knowledge of that so in the future it will help if i ever do it again. I am liking the fact that we have changed the genre to horror; yes it would of been nice to do a genre that people aren't doing but if it means that it makes things easier for us and that we have a better chance of a better grade if we do horror then im all for it .

Problems!

We have had alot of problems since starting this project and it really has made things hard for us but have managed to pull through it. Today I have been editing for 5 hours and my eyes feel like they are going to pop out. Today was really rough when it came to editing we transferred it to final cut pro and it messed everything up, we didn't know that if you over lapped them it took seconds away or added them and we really started to panic and everything was muddled so we decided to stay on imovie HD. I am happy with the progress that has been made and cant wait to see the finished project i think it will be quite good. One thing that is bugging me is that when we go to compress it to put it on our blog it doesn't seem to want to do it so i am really scared that we are going to do all this and its not going to up load which will be disastrous because i do not know what we are going to do if that happens.

Title Sequence to Se7en, My Inspiration!

I also really liked the title sequence to se7en it was the inspiration to my title sequence. I liked how it went from the film to title pages and I also like the flashes it had on the text it gave it a sense of chill. I tried to do that with my film but I could pull it off as well so it had to go. I also have made it dark like se7en and give it the spine chilling effect. There is not alot of dialogue in the title sequence of se7en and I really liked that it I thought it was more effective and lets you focus more on what is on the screen, either than people talking.

My Continuity Piece!

I dont want to sound stupid but I found it harder to do continuity than it would. You have to remember so much, like does it fit in and doeds it make sence. I know that you have to do that when making a film anyway but just the word continuity makes it sound more demanding in a way. We also had to remember the 180 degree rule when filming a conversation between two people. It took us an hour and half to make it as it was so hard to get good angles and we kept breaking the 180 degree rule so it didint look right because we had it from two different angles and it distorted the frame.
