THE STORYBOARDS!!!

Today was hilarious, getting our storyboards done took so long but we did have alot of fun doing it. Luke in the shower was priceless! I liked the fact that we could do our storyboards taking pictures with the camera instead of drawing them because none of us can draw. It really feels like we are getting somewhere with it now and i cant wait to actually film it, it's going to be so fun and interesting. the only thing is we need to get a boy to do a shower scene, they will only have to showthe top part of their bum and have their top off. so if there is any media, film or drama students that wouldnt mind them please let me know so we can put you in the film. the pictures from today should be posted on there soon if all goes to plan, i will even put the ones we dont use on there so you cansee how stupid we can get.

This is the campaign that gave us the idea !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

THE PLANNING!!!

We have now started planning what genre we are going to do for our title sequence and it has not been easy!
It really surprised me how difficult it has been deciding on a genre we are going to do. We argued
for half hour on what one we were going to do. We all had ideas in our head and all wanted to use
them, it didn't help that we all like to get our own way and that get our own way and all have big mouths but after all the hissy fits we have finally got our genre...CRIME DRAMA!!!
after we had our genre it was then time for the mind map for it. We had to look at
The Plot
The Characters
The Setting
The Cause of Death
We want to do something that reflects society and has the same significance as Saul Basses title sequence.
We chose the storyline would be a hate crime on homophobia, this was because of the campaign "Some people are gay, get over it". The school is doing so much to do with the campaign so we thought we could do this as a part of it.
The legend that is Saul Bass!

Saul Bass started off as a graphic designer making symbols for ad campaigns. It wasn't when he was working with Otto making symbols for a film that they thought "Why not make it move" and his legacy went on. bass thought that the audience should feel involved in the very first frame. he also said that the title sequence to films "Is like the prologue to the action in the film, it gives you information but not too much that it spoils the film but enough to get the audience excited". his signature is lines over the creen and text which i think is very effective as it disorients you and again leaves room for the imagination.

Psycho:
The one minute fifty two seconds title sequence of Psycho was done so well that it is unforgettable.
the fast pace music sounds like someone running and that they are being chased and need to getaway quick. The music also has an icy chill to it which builds to the tension. The signature lines over the screen and the text disorients you and doesn't give too much of the plot of the film away.
North by North West:
Again there is lines over the screen but makes it seem map like and that maybe in the film the characters are also on the run. The music also connotes that the film could be fast paced.
In both of the title sequences Saul Bass leaves clues for the film which gets the audiences imagination working, however it doesn't let to much slide as that would ruin the film.
Saul Bass on titles! He shares his wisdom!
