THE FINAL POST!!!!

It has been a long journey doing this project and how fun it has been i am glad it is over.
thank you for reading my blog and watching my title sequence i hope you liked it!!!! x
thank you Nina, Leanne and Gerry for helping me so much and thank you to harry for starring in it!

7) looking back at your preliminary task, what do you feel you have learned from the progression of it to the full product?

As i have mentioned earlier on in my blog i found that it was harder than it looked to film a continuity piece as we couldn't get the continuity and we had to remember the 80 degree rule. It helped us as we then had them skills when it came to doing our title sequence. I didn't realise how much work you have to put in to get it right and when you are filming what shot would work best for that situation and what to have in the mise-en-scene if it works or if it makes it seem generic. Following the storyboards was a personal thing i had to learn how to do because i always forgot to stick to it and then i would get lost and then everything wouldn't work as it was jumbled up. Editing was the best thing i learned how to do i was proud of myself for what i done as it was my first time doing it but i regret leaving it to the last minute as i think it would of been done better if i had had more time. The crit lesson was really good for me as it was great to see what people thought of the finished product, even the criticism was great to hear as it meant that they paid attention and in the long run would make my product better. I have really enjoyed doing this project as i have learned so much on everything and it has been interesting learning about film distribution and looking at that side of the making of the films and not just the technical side of it.
I have regrets as i think i could of worked harder on this and left the editing to the last minute but i am really proud of the finished product.

6) what have you learnt about the technologies from the process of constructing your media product?

I have learned alot in this process as i hadn't even heard about blogging before and i aso had never edited anything before i always done the written side of it and left the editing to the others in my group, but where as i had to take lead in the group and get the work done myself i learned so much on there. Gerry was always there as a helping hand for me but i liked exploring new things on there and teaching myself new techniques. Blogging actually became religious for me as i found that i had something to write about this process nearly everyday which made it more educational as i learned something new everyday about films.

5) How did you attract/ address your audience?

I attracted my audience through character and setting. It is based in a public school so it will be a familiar set for the audience which will make it more creepy as it is close to home. The characters are the same age as the audience so the will be able to relate to them more and understand what they go through and how they feel but will also scare the audience more as the could think that could happen in their school. I found out that in one school someone was actually was beaten up really badly due to him being gay so i wanted to play on that and add horror to it which i thought would make it more appealing.

4) Who would be the audience for your media product?

The target audience for my media product is from the ages of 15-20 year olds as i think they will get more out of the film than what older or younger people would. the obviously have to be horror genre fans and also like films with a hidden meaning. I also chose this age group as i think they will have the money to spend on going to the cinema and seeing the film. I noticed that when i went to the cinema on a Saturday it was filled teenagers during the day and then at night it got filled with the 18-20 year olds as they can stay out later. The social class for my audience is middle class as the have the money to spend on going to the cinema more than what working class people do which means that the film will be watched more.

2) How does your media product represent particular social groups?

My media product represents them as being stuck up in some ways as they kill someone one because he is gay which also shows them as being ignorant to difference. It is based in a public school so the characters would be either middle or working class. I think the murderer is a a stereotypical teenager who discards someone for being different. I think that if it was hollywood distributed then i think it would loose that and then there would be no reason for using that storyline as i wanted to use it because i got my inspiration from the stonewall campaign.
As my target audience is the same social class as the characters, i know that they will understand more and and relate to the storyline more than someone older than them or of a different social class.

3) What kind of media institute might distribute your media product and why?

I have to say I haven't made my mind up on whether I would want a main stream institute or something like B.F.I to distribute it. If I was to have something like warner brothers or paramount the film would be "Hollywoodised" and I know that you could have a big budget for it but as this was done on no budget what so ever and I think it could be very British so I think I would prefer to let it be distributed by the B.F.I as I think the theme of homophobia in it would be lost as they would focus on the horror of it.
I don't know what one would get the film seen more and earn more money and also get the homophobia theme across to the targeted audience.

1) In what ways does your media product use, develop or challenge forms and conventions of a real media prduct?

The opening title sequence for my media product 'Hate' does follow the forms and conventions of a real media product. Thisd is shown through the pace of the film, it is very slow and creepy and has a disoriented feel to it; also throught the music, the music is very creepy and whenever it shows something bad it has a deep beat to it which builds on the tension. we wanted to make sure it was similar to a real media product as we thought it would make it more successful and we also wanted to keep it simple but give more of an impact. Our product is about scaring the audience but it was also giving out a message on homophobia which doesn't always happen in horror films. We found that in horror films they give alot clues to the film but always leave you with enigmas of the storyline and we liked that trait and wanted to use it with our media product.
